A woman is undergoing emergency surgery after being viciously mauled by her two rottweilers, while her neighbours watching on in horror.
Nikita Piil, 31, was set upon by the dogs, Bronx and Harlem, about 4.30pm on Saturday at her home in Success, southern Perth, with residents alerting police after hearing her blood-curdling screams.
‘I was hearing ‘help, help, please help’,’ neighbour Bryn Spencer told Nine news.
‘I was contemplating jumping the fence and getting in there to try to rescue her but obviously there were two rottweillers in there.

‘I didn’t have a knife, I didn’t have anything really good to take this dog out.
‘I only had a bat. All I could really do was watch this girl get mauled apart while I am smacking the fence.’
Another neighbour turned a hose on one of the dogs, which succeeded in momentarily distracting it.
‘The dog stopped for a bit and it was looking at me deciding what to do next,’ Mr Spencer said.
‘I kept screaming at it and smacking the fence and then it decided ‘stuff you’ and it got the girl and dragged her behind the back corner and that’s when I was like ‘oh no’.
Police and paramedics arrived but were still not able to stop dogs savaging their defenceless owner.
Mr Spencer begged the officers: ‘You need to get your gun out and shoot this dog — it’s going to kill her.’
Even tasering the animal failed to stop the merciless attack.

Fearing for the woman’s life one of the officers used his pistol to shoot one of the animals.
‘Due to the extremely aggressive nature of the dogs and the ongoing risk to human life, a police firearm was discharged to stop the attack,’ a police spokesperson told The West Australian.
The animal was seriously injured and rangers were called in to take it to a nearby veterinary hospital where it was euthanised.
Officers managed to secure the other dog in the garage as Ms Piil was rushed to hospital suffering severe wounds to her arms and legs.
She is currently in a serious but stable condition in Royal Perth Hospital but doctors were preparing to perform emergency surgery to save her arm.
The second dog has been taken to the City of Cockburn’s animal management facility where it will remain until ‘investigations surrounding the incident are finalised’.
On Ms Piil’s Facebook page her affection for her rottweilers is very evident.
One photo shows the two dogs standing next to some artificial turf they have dug up and Ms Piil captions it: ‘My babies’ with a black love heart.
In another photo she can be seen kissing one of the dogs on the snout as it lies on a couch.
She also wishes her ‘baby’ Bronx a happy first birthday.
‘I couldn’t ask for a more incredible, cheeky, loyal, intelligent and protective little mate,’ she writes.
‘You’re my whole world.’

WA Premier Roger Cook said on Sunday that dog attacks were ‘always traumatic for anyone involved’ as he thanked the emergency services who attended.
‘We’ll continue to make sure we monitor the situation,’ he said.
‘What we need to do is continue to educate dog owners and people in the community about dangers — potential dangers — of these sorts of breeds but we’ll just monitor the situation.
‘But thanks to everyone who responded to that difficult situation and my condolences to anyone impacted by the event.’
