There is a “large police presence” on the scene in the city of Mississauga, which borders Toronto, following reports of a gunman opening fire. 

One person has been pronounced dead at the scene.

Two others have been taken to hospital.

Peel Regional Police sounded the alarm at 8.04 pm (4.04pm local time), issuing a description of the shooter to residents and warning them that he was “armed and dangerous”.
