Young Palestinians have been training at the Gaza military summer camp organised by Hamas’ armed wing.

The annual gathering in Khan Younis on the southern Gaza Strip is no ordinary summer camp – as it trains youths in military combat with a series of dangerous exercises.

Pictures released from inside the camp on Tuesday showed brazen young people jumping through flaming hoops and crawling under a tight net of barbed wire.

They were put through a series of military exercises and obstacle courses including challenging monkey bars.

The stakes were incredibly high even in training, as their somersaults through the rings saw the Palestinians miss the flames only by mere inches.

Elsewhere, the group appeared to chant and march together in unison in the slick operation.

Speed and agility appeared key to the exercises – which were part of no ordinary summer camp

Those who were too young to join in were pictured clinging to the fence outside, as they were enthralled just by watching the training.

Palestinian militant group Hamas controls the Gaza strip and trains the young people at the camp each year.

The United States and European Union have designated the group, which took over the Gaza Strip in 2006, a terrorist organisation due to its armed resistance against Israel.

It comes after CCTV footage emerged last month appearing to show the moment a 16-year-old Palestinian boy – supposedly unarmed – was gunned down and killed by an Israeli sniper during the Jenin military operation.

Abdulrahman Hasan Ahmad Hardan was killed as he stood in front of the al-Amal hospital, which is based outside the Jenin refugee camp.

He had been responding to a call from his local mosque to donate blood.

In the CCTV video, Abdulrahman was seen appearing empty-handed, as he looked down the street.

The boy slumped to the ground after he appeared to be shot by an Israeli sniper.
