Fast food lovers are flying thousands of miles to eat ‘Britain’s largest portion of fish and chips’ which weighs in at more than a stone and contains a whopping 4,500 calories.

The Chip Inn, in Huthwaite, Nottinghamshire, are famed for their humongous food boxes and have now claimed they offer the largest fish and chip dinner in the country.

The chippy created the 20-inch Codfather which consists of four battered cods, three portions of chips, eight sausages, four fish cakes and ten different sauces.

The glutenous meal, that would set you back £40, weighs in at around one stone and four pounds, the same as a 43inch TV, and the box has to be wrapped in tape so it doesn’t burst open.

The daily recommended calorie intake for women is 2,000 calories-a-day and for men it is 2,500, with the monstrous meal coming in a whopping 4,500 calories alone.

Megann Altinoz, 42, who owns the shop with husband Erdal, 45, said: ‘It’s the largest UK fish and chip box in the UK.

‘I haven’t seen another one that big. People compete for the biggest kebab but not fish and chips. The box is really, really big.

‘It’s hard to describe how heavy the boxes are but the 20-inch ones are a struggle to lift when they’re ready. I have to get some someone to help me lift it.

‘It’s like a work out. They’re so full that we have to wrap them in tape and force them shut.

‘A lot of people see them online and say they can do it, and then their friends usually say they want to have a go as well.

‘No-one has been able to finish the box yet.’

The chip shop initially shot to fame in 2019 for selling the ‘world’s largest kebab’ which contained 5,350 calories.

The takeaway say customers flock from as far as Florida, USA, which is over 4000 miles away, to get their hands on the meal.

Mrs Altinoz added: ‘We’ve had people come from the USA. They were travelling to London and came to our shop because they had heard  about it online.

‘We went viral for our kebab box, which was the largest in the world. The Codfather box is actually bigger than that one by five inches.

‘It’s amazing that people from around the world know us because of our boxes. We definitely have American style portions.

‘If we notice a different accent in the shop we’ll ask if they’ve travelled far, and we still get people coming from far away.

‘We have had people from Scotland and Cornwall come and try them.’

Mrs Altinoz added: ‘The shop has been a family business for about 24 years. We took over in 2010 and we started doing the different food boxes in 2017.

‘The idea came about when a customer came in and ordered a kebab and she asked if we could put it in a pizza box.

‘We took a video if it and shared it on Facebook and it went from there. Now our weekends are absolutely crazy and we get people queuing outside.’

The huge meals range from fish feasts to burger boxes, as well as a meat special which features doner kebab, chicken meat, and two large portions of chips.

However, Mrs Altinoz claims the most popular is the famous burger box, which consists of a ten-inch pizza topped with four burgers.

The £30 meal also comes with doner and chicken meat, onion rings and chicken nuggets.

The videos of the meals posted by the couple have gained millions of views, with one gaining over 25,000 comments.

‘We have a lot of people who comment on the videos on Facebook,’ Mrs Altinoz added.

‘We have even have had someone tag Gordon Ramsay in one of the videos to see if he if he would do a TikTok video about them.

‘We’ve also had Will Mellor sharing them. It’s all gone crazy.’
