Police hunt for middle-aged cyclist who sexually assaulted young girls

Middle-aged cyclist who approached girls aged six and seven and sexually assaulted one is hunted by police

  • The man allegedly approached two young girls, aged 6 and 7, in the street 
  • He touched one girl ‘inappropriately’ and asked the other ‘to touch his groin’

Police are hunting a middle-aged cyclist who approached two young girls, aged six and seven, in the street before sexually assaulting one.

The man confronted the girls on Kirkstone Close in Oldham just after 12.30pm on Saturday, Greater Manchester Police reported.

He allegedly touched ‘one of the girls inappropriately’ and then asked the second girl ‘to touch his groin’ before fleeing the scene.

Police have increased patrols in the area ‘to help keep people safe’ as they search for the suspect who is believed to be aged between 40 and 60, with short grey hair and a medium build.

He was riding a bicycle that is described as being black with white writing and blue pedals. 

The victims and their families are being supported by specialist officers.

‘GMP are aware that this incident will understandably cause shock and concern for local residents,’ Detective Inspector Andrew Fink said.

‘I’d like to reassure the community that we are investigating and are following up on a number of lines of enquiry to try and establish who this man is.

‘We have increased patrols in the area to help keep people safe and would ask anyone with any questions to please speak to one of our officers who will be happy to help.’
