The Royal Navy sent a frigate to the North Sea on Monday to protect the Nord Stream pipeline after suspected sabotage by Russia. The Ministry of Defence (MoD) said that the frigate is looking to reassure partners after the pipelines in the Nord Steam network burst near Swedish and Danish waters. The MoD said that the frigate, which was most likely to be the Type 23 HMS Somerset, was in the area and working with the Norweigan army.

The Nord Stream pipeline, which runs from Russia to Germany, ruptured in three separate places last week, in a suspected Russian attack.

Russia has denied the attack, claiming that the US would have more to gain from sabotage.
