‘Russian spy HQ’ located in three-star UK seaside hotel raided by ‘men in black’

A hotel in Great Yarmouth that was used as a headquarters for an alleged Russian spy ring was raided by security services.

“Men in black” were said to have raided the Haydee Guesthouse on the east coast town’s Prince’s Road, but workers nearby have now told the Daily Star the property appears to be closed.

Bulgarian national Orlin Roussev, 45, is one of the three people arrested in February of this year under suspicion of spying for Russia and had been using the guest house as a basecamp.

He has now been charged alongside Bizer Dzhambazov, 41, of Harrow, north-west London and Katrin Ivanova, 31, of the same location after they were found with paperwork feared to be used with "improper intention".

The hotel itself seems to be unremarkable with simple decor and a sign hanging in the kitchen that reads “a little sand between the toes always takes away the woes”.

But neighbours were astonished to see a group of masked men entering the three-star property to take Mr Roussev away, the Sun report.

A crime tent was later seen outside with two days of investigation and searching following the initial operation by UK Counter Terrorism Police.

He allegedly ran a forgery operation from his room in the guest house, following his move to the UK in 2009.

The eight-room guesthouse was allegedly found to have tools for forging inside.

Neighbours say they have now not seen anyone come or go to the hotel for months, with a source reporting to the Daily Star that the hotel appears to be shut at the time of writing.

Blids are understood to have been drawn across the property, and dead plants are said t be visible in hanging baskets.

Images on Google show views of the beach, while pictures of an unremarkable fry-up have also circulated.

Situated near the Britannia Pier, the white and blue guest house sits in a Victorian terrace and was bought on September 16, 2021, for £220,000.

All three suspects are due for trial at the Old Bailey in January.
