A 21-YEAR-OLD student fell to his death as he climbed up a fire escape following a night out, an inquest heard.

Alfie Woollett, from Cornwall, died after hitting his head on March 4 last year having tried to scale a fire escape at Kings nightclub in Cardiff.

An inquest into Alfie's death at Pontypridd Coroners’ Court heard how he had attended a fancy dress party at the club and had been asked to leave the venue by security due to “intoxication”.

But after leaving Kings Alfie, a Cardiff Met student, then tried to get back into the club by climbing over a fire escape at the rear of the premises.

Alfie, who was born in Medway in Kent, lost his footing and fell, sustaining traumatic injuries to his head and dying at the scene.

Results of a toxicological report stated that the young man was more than four times above the legal drink-drive limit at the time of his death.
