The park has been cordoned off while forensic officers hunt for clues.

Detective Inspector Mark Parish, the senior investigating officer, said: "While two people have been arrested in connection with this incident, our investigation is very much in its early stages and I would like to speak to anyone who saw or heard anything in the park or in Ashburton Road.

"Did you see anyone going into the park? I'm particularly keen to speak to residents with CCTV or doorbell cameras at their property or anyone who happened to be driving in the area at the time.

"Any information you're able to provide, no matter how insignificant you think it is, could help."
