The news comes after a wild video has captured the moment a giant 15-foot crocodile crossed a road near a school in front of stunned drivers after bad weather triggered floods in the area earlier this month. The clip, which has gained more than 1,9000 views on social media, shows the dangerous predator crossing the tarmac near Velammal New Gen School in Chennai, India in the early morning on December 4. Stunned motorists stopped to watch the beast as it disappeared into the darkness.

Bureaucrat Supriya Sahu said that the crocodile came out of a body of water after the Cyclone Michaung brought heavy rainfall throughout the night, causing some flooding in the area. The Tamil Nadu forest department issued a warning to the public following the video being shared widely on X, the site formerly known as Twitter at the time.
