Dame Joan Collins has shocked fans as she appears almost unrecognisable in a new snap posted to her Instagram page.

The Dynasty star, 89, showed off her hair transformation as she went for a meal with some "great friends", including Charles Delevingne, the father of models Cara and Poppy.

She also included the hashtags “night out”, “favourite people”, “good food” and “witty repartee” as she appeared to be in high spirits with her friends.

However the was one noteable difference in the actress's look, as she debuted a rather dramatic hair transformation.

Gone was her signature updo and fringe, which were instead replaced with some glamourous and youthful long brown locks.

Fans were quick to comment complimenting the Hollywood icon's new look, with one writing: "Ur hair looks fabulous down like this."

Another added: "Your hair looks fabulous!!"

A third commented: "Joan’s aging in reverse….she looks 25 here!" and a fourth added: "As usual you look better than everyone. Inspirational."

Earlier this year Joan opened up about a bizarre situation in which she had a bread roll thrown at her by a drunk fan at a private members' club

Joan said said the "frightening" confrontation caused the roll-thrower to be banned for life, while the person she was a guest of had their membership suspended.

She revealed the incident, which took place at Chelsea Arts Club, happened earlier this year. The exact date or time of the incident is not known.

The woman was said to be "swaying" and "not making any sense" when she approached Joan and told her "I have always admired you" before being persuaded to return to her table. The woman then took a bread roll throwing it directly at Joan.

Recalling the incident, the actress told the Daily Mail: "A drunken diner who inappropriately wanted to sit with us got upset and threw a hard bread roll at me, and she didn't even have the decency to follow it up with the butter.

"It was a private dinner for a friend's birthday, my once PR Stella Wilson."

Meanwhile, Stella explained: "Joan understandably was upset. Nobody likes to have something thrown at them."

"She and Percy left. I was disappointed she had to miss the rest of my birthday but I completely understood why she left. I would have walked out, too. Thank goodness it was only a bread roll. That was the frightening part of it."

Stella later added: "None of us could understand why she threw it. It was an upsetting incident for everybody."
