Helen Skelton jokes about Richard Madeley reading her book

Despite separating from her husband Richie Myler last year, Helen Skelton has revealed she has no plans to delete photos of her ex from her social media.

The 40-year-old spoke about her split from Richie in her autobiography In My Stride, which came out in October, and said she wants their children to see the happy moments they shared.

She is determined to let her kids remember the times when they were together and wants her ex to remain in her and her kids’ lives.

Speaking in the book, the presenter said: “I want them to know that we loved each other, but things change and that’s OK too.”

The Countryfile host said she’s in no rush to find another man in her life, despite her friends encouraging her to find somebody new.

She expressed: “I want to enjoy this time of focusing on my kids and my career. I don’t need to try to find energy I don’t have for a new relationship.”

The pair separated in April last year after eight years of marriage and shortly after the birth of their third child.

The former couple share sons Ernie, eight, Louis, five, and 16-month-old daughter Elsie.

The rugby star is now dating Stephanie Thirkill and the couple have since had a child of their own together.

Helen revealed that she was initially tight-lipped about the break up, but once she confided in her family, they came to her aid and supported her.

She said she didn’t want to tell her parents because she didn’t want to “inflict” pain on them.

However, the former Blue Peter presenter eventually told her father, Richard Skelton, after he surprised her at her home in Leeds.

Writing in her book, she said: “He immediately stepped in, knowing I needed him, even though I didn’t want to admit it.”

After she confided in her father, he and her mother Janet helped her with caring for her three children.

Helen has since moved back to Cumbria, in a property close to her parents’ family home.
