Kevin Costner didn’t acknowledge his son Liam until he had proof he fathered him.

The Yellowstone actor is a proud dad of seven, but there was once a time when he didn’t accept his fourth child.

The Dances With Wolves star shares three adult children — Annie, 39, Lily, 37, and Joe, 35 — with his ex-wife Cindy Silva, whom he met in college.

After their marriage ended in 1994, Costner had several other relationships, including with Bridget Rooney, niece of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ then-owner Dan Rooney and relative of actresses Kate and Rooney Mara.

After their months-long relationship, Rooney gave birth to their son Liam Costner in November 1996.

According to People, Costner only acknowledged Liam as his son after Rooney insisted on having a paternity test.

After the results showed Liam as his son, Costner reportedly set up a sizable trust fund for him.

The Oscar-winner also allegedly took time to visit his son “occasionally but not on a regular basis,” a friend of Rooney’s said, noting that Rooney had relocated from Aspen to Palm Beach.

When she became pregnant with Liam, Rooney told New York Magazine she was “110 percent sure” who the father was and revealed she was enjoying her pregnancy.

Rooney added she decided to proceed with the pregnancy with or without Costner’s help.

She said: “There was only one way to go with this. I’m 34 years old, and I’m fortunate to have a baby. I didn’t even think of the A word, only the B word.”

An insider said Rooney was not the kind of person seen at “glitzy parties,” instead she was “independent and independently wealthy.”

They added: “It’s not like she’s going after him for money or anything.”

Liam, who’s is now 26, has lived a private life outside of the spotlight his father has thrived in for decades.

He’s lived with his mother, step-father William Koch, a wealthy investor, and yachtsman, and his step-sibilings.

Later, in 2004, Costner married Christine Baumgartner and the pair had three children, Cayden Wyatt, 15, Hayes Logan, 14, and Grace Avery, 13.

On May 1, Baumgartner filed for divorce from the star after 18 years of marriage.
