Laura Woods: Taking talkSPORT hot seat is my ‘greatest honour’

Laura Woods has revealed she would love to give time with her loved ones “more focus” as she discussed making a name for herself in the sports presenting world.

The 36-year-old began grafting for her job back in 2009 when she worked as a runner for Sky Sports.

With the company, she ventured into production and presenting but parted ways with them last year.

Most recently, Laura joined TNT Sports as the lead presenter for the UEFA Champions League and the boxing coverage.

On getting to this point of her career, the host revealed how she had to give up precious time with her loved ones.

She told The Telegraph: “I would just make sure I always prioritised work. That took me through telly, through production, and it took me to here.

“And then I realised, probably in the last couple of years that, although I’ve got to where I want to in terms of my professional career, I’ve probably done it at the expense of some of my own personal relationships.”

With this, Laura doesn’t admitted she hasn’t spent enough time with her family and friends, although said they are “completely understanding”.

“You can only miss so many birthdays, parties and weddings. I would love to give it more focus,” she admitted.

In particular, Laura fears missing out on her nieces and nephews’ upbringings and would love to take her Arsenal-loving niece Margo to more games.

“I think they [family and friends] should be my priority, and they always do feel like my priority, even if I’ve been working so hard that they’ve had to take a back seat,” she added.

Laura’s hard work has also seen her present TalkSPORT’s Breakfast Show in 2020 alongside Ally McCoist.

For her role, she won several awards including the Best Speech Breakfast Show at the ARIAS in 2021.

Earlier this year, she made a rare comment about her love life, revealing she is single, but dating.

But wanting to remain private about her love life, she told The Sun: “I don’t want to put my whole life out there for everybody to see. I want to keep some things like ‘that person’ more sacred.”

Laura was in an eight-year relationship former England rugby player Alex Corbisiero.

She admitted she was the one who called things off and likened it to “coming up for air”.
