Love Islands Jamie Jewitt loses 3 stone to become a better dad

Former Love Island contestant Jamie Jewitt has said that his recent weight loss has been spurred on by his desire to be a "better dad" to his daughter.

The 31 year old found love in the infamous Love Island villa with fellow participant and fan favourite Camilla Thurlow, and the pair continued their relationship when the show ended.

The couple are still happily together, and parents to daughter Nell as well as expecting their second child this summer.

Former model Jamie gained weight after his stint on the show, reaching roughly 17st 1lb at his heaviest —five stone up from his weight entering the villa back in 2017 at 12st 8lbs.

When daughter Nell was born, Jamie confessed to not taking care of his health and putting his strict fitness regime on the back burner as he focused on raising his first child.

The reality star opted for “quick and easy” foods causing his body to suffer as he gained weight, leading Jamie to eventually ditch his lazy diet and make a vow to shed the so that he could become a “happy healthy parent” to daughter Nell.

“It’s a slippery slope once the bad habits set in and a difficult cycle to break when you have so much else going on that you need to think about, ie an increasingly energetic little bambino!" Jamie told The Sun.

The ex Love Islander revealed that he embraced his “dad bod” at one point, but also felt the negative effects of his weight gain, which is why he ventured back to following a path of good health.

“I had many aches and pains. I have trouble with my knees anyway and with the extra weight I really felt pain from walking up and down stairs and getting up off the floor after playing with Nell,” Jamie continued.

He continued: "Weight loss for me will always be about health and happiness as I had no issue with my body image at a heavier weight it was more the fact that I felt unhealthy.

"I now have found that balance and I feel like the younger healthier me, and able to be a more active happy healthy parent!"

Jamie concluded that he feels much more “energetic” since losing weight which has led him to feeling like a better parent in general for his daughter and second child arriving soon.
