Love Island star Luca Bish is set to meet his partner Gemma Owen’s mum later on in the series, instead of her footballer dad, who has been described as “much more scary”.

Earlier this week, Michael Owen confirmed that he’ll leave the ‘Meet the Parents’ episode to his wife Louise, dispelling rumours he’d be seen on the show reuniting with their daughter.

For a moment, it sounded like Luca, 23, got off scot-free in what would have been an intimidating situation meeting Gemma’s dad, but friends of the Owens family have said that mum Louise as just “intense” — so Luca should beware.

“None of Gemma’s friends are surprised Louise is the one who will be heading over to take part in the programme if required,” a source told the Daily Mail.

“Anyone Gemma’s ever met has had to impress Louise and she normally gets to meet them long before Michael does. Gemma and Louise are incredibly close and socialise together so she often gets to meet a lot of the guys she hangs around with.

“So far she’s been impressed with Luca and likes the way he behaves. But she will give him a very intense once over when she meets him.”

They added: “Louise is very blunt and doesn’t pull any punches. If she doesn’t like someone she will say. It is a trait Gemma has inherited.”

The news of Louise possibly entering the villa comes after she posted a photo of herself with 19 year old daughter Gemma, as she declared that she was missing her on Instagram on Thursday.

In the snap shared, Louise was seen sat next to her eldest daughter in a sunny location and the pair looked stunning as they showed off their tans in flattering swimwear.

“Missing my girl so much,” the mum captioned the pic as she added a love heart and crying face emoji.

Gemma and Luca are tipped as one of the favourites to win Love Island, so Louise might have to wait a while yet before she is reunited with her daughter.

She shares three other children with husband Michael, son James, 16, and daughters Emily, 14, and Jessica, 12.

Louise met Michael in primary school in 1984 and became childhood sweethearts, before they eventually got engaged on Valentine’s Day, which is also Louise’s birthday, in 2004.

The pair married a year later and have remained happily together ever since.
