Neighbours gets X-rated as the move from network to streaming sees a steamier take on the soap

Neighbours is back and promising more changes than fans could ever imagine.

As the long-running soap shrugs off the constraints of a network, after it was axed by Channel 5 in the UK, things are set to get steamy on Ramsay Street.

For the first time in 38 years executives have called in intimacy coordinators to mediate sex scenes as the soap transitions to Amazon Freevee, reported The Sun.

With the Aussie favourite now being streamed to the US and Canada, Neighbours will see a big X-rated shake-up in a bid to attract new audiences.

Actor Xavier Molyneux revealed on Tuesday he and fellow star Mischa Barton are the first to film their ‘hot and heavy’ scenes as their characters start a lusty romance.

He said his character Byron Stone, the son of Jane Harris and great-grandson of Nell Mangel, has ‘a bit of a spark’ with Mischa’s newbie Reece Sinclair.

‘It was great working with Mischa, we both came into it together so a lot of the time we were leaning on each other. We had a lot of two-handers,’ Xavier, 26, said.

‘We were just trying to figure out exactly how we fit together, and what chemistry we do have, because there’s “faking it” acting, but what we can actually use… and that came with the intimacy team we worked with.’

It comes after the hotly anticipated Australian soap dropped its first teaser trailer earlier this month for the upcoming season.

The new chapter of the hit drama will launch on Prime Video Australia and New Zealand on Monday, September 25.

This will follow the series premiere on Amazon Freevee and Network 10 on Monday, September 18.

In the teaser, all our favourites return to Ramsay Street, with Karl Kennedy (Alan Fletcher) seen greeting a new family as they arrive in the enclave.

Elsewhere, Paul Robinson (Stefan Dennis) is seen mourning lost love, Terese Willis (Rebekah Elmaloglou).

In Australia, Network 10 will retain first-run rights for the series, and episodes will be available ad-free on Prime Video seven days later.

Internationally, Neighbours will be available on Amazon Freevee in the UK and the U.S, and Prime Video in Canada, Ireland and South Africa.
