Prince William and Kate Middleton put on loving display at Royal Variety Show amid race row

Kate Middleton and Prince William have arrived at the Royal Variety Performance at the Royal Albert Hall in London, as the couple put on a loving display in the wake of the continuing race row following the release of Omid Scobie's Endgame book.

The Prince and Princess of Wales were also joined by The Crown Princess of Sweden and Prince Daniel for the special charity event.

Mum-of-three Kate, 41, wore a teal blue floor-length gown that featured statement draped sleeves with slits across the arms, and was beaming as she held hands with her husband, the future King.

The princess styled her brunette locks into a bouncy wave and showcased her fresh fringe, accessorising with a gold clutch purse and statement jewellery.

As well as a diamond choker necklace, Kate added a sparkly bangle and matching earrings, and finished off with a pair of teal suede heels.

The royal went full glam for the evening, as she stood next to her husband in black tie.

Prince William looked dapper as ever as he supported his wife upon entry into the swanky annual event, even putting a protective hand across her back as they walked across to the hall.

The royals were all smiles as they shook hands and posed on the red carpet together, ready to join the rest of the guests in the auditorium.

The annual show sees stars gathering from all around the world to put on a fantastic show for the Royal Family and special guests in the historic performance venue.

The show raises money for the Royal Variety Charity, and is an entertaining gala show every year, with the winner of Britain's Got Talent also winning a spot in the line-up.

This year's addition is Norwegian comedian Viggo Venn. Viggo opted for black tie for the event, and teamed his outfit with a bold burgundy velvet double-breasted jacket to show off his quirky style.

The comic's wild hairdo was also perfectly coiffed for the evening as he grinned for photographers on the red carpet.

Spice Girls singer and TV star Melanie C is also in attendance, donning an elegant and modern white trouser suit.

Sporty Spice gave a nod to her history with the iconic girl group as she donned a bright blue sports spa underneath her jacket.

80s pop sensation Rick Astley looked as suave as ever, toning down his look with a smart black suit and tie combo.

West End favourite and theatre superstar Samantha Barks then shook things up with an awards ceremony-esque ballgown for the evening.

The Wicked performer looked every inch the showgirl in a sapphire blue satin dress that featured an off-the-shoulder design and a thin belt round her waist.

Samantha opted for a Hollywood wave in her silky brunette tress, and styled her locks to the side so they cascaded down her shoulder.

The star finished off her stunning look with pearlescent nails and a pair of statement diamond drop earrings.
