King Charles kicked off his birthday in style yesterday with a tea party at his home, Highgrove House in Gloucestershire.

The early birthday party, hosted by The Prince’s Foundation, was also attended by celebrity chef Raymond Blanc and Just an Illusion singer Leee John.

Guests sang the monarch happy birthday before receiving some delicious-looking white and gold cake.

Today’s main birthday celebrations are due to take place at Clarence House, while ceremonial gun salutes are set to take place around the UK.

In the Autumn of 2021, King Charles filmed an hour-long special of Jay’s BBC show, which was called The Repair Shop: A Royal Visit.

In an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk, Jay admitted that he didn’t feel much had changed about the monarch since he met him when he was still the Prince of Wales.

“He’s the same person,” Jay reflected. “He’s just got a different job title, and probably more responsibility.”

“But I think meeting him… When you see this episode that goes out, it is unbelievable.

“We had a really great time, because we both have the same interests,” he continued. “We want heritage craft to just flourish, so that’s what we were chatting about, really.”
