Furious teacher slams parents for their kids' behaviour – but her classroom photo totally divides opinion | The Sun

A PRIMARY school teacher has sparked a fierce debate after slamming parents' behaviour with a classroom photo.

There is no doubt that though rewarding teaching is also one of the most challenging jobs out there, often dealing with low pay, long hours and screaming children.

Now, one expert in the field, who teaches five-year-olds, has taken to Reddit to publicly call out parents after an ''infuriating'' situation during class.

In the post, the woman shared a snap of a classroom which had been left in a mess, totally trashed with toys, and the master responsible for this was a three-year-old.

According to her, it was all because the tot had thrown a temper tantrum, as she refused to go for naptime.

''The parents insist the child's behaviour is not the problem,'' read the caption.

But whilst the teacher may have been left infuriated, the post – which has since racked up over 3k comments – left social media users divided.

Many sympathised with the school whizz, with one writing: "I thought that was the destruction by many, dang that was one kid?!''

Someone else agreed, adding: "Those parents are going to have a rude awakening in the child's teen years if they don't get them help now."

"Difficult to deal with so mom and dad throw all responsibility on you,'' another reckoned.

However, others were more sympathetic and insisted there could be plenty of reasons behind the tot's behaviour.

As one former teacher put it: ''There are a myriad of factors that can play into a child reacting in this manner. In my experience one of them is often a stressful home life.''

''A child this young is only just learning how to regulate feelings and if their home life isn't settled or safe then they act out because they don't know how to talk through what's actually bothering them. It doesn’t even have to be outright abuse or anything.''

The pro went on to add: "With one kid I taught, his parents were going through a nasty divorce. They fought all of the time and he was being shuffled every few days between the two separate homes.

''Each parent disciplined differently too so there was no consistency or stability. That's why routines are SO IMPORTANT for young children. This is just one example.

''Children like this need responsible adult to help them work through big emotions properly and in a healthy way.

''But sadly a lot of parents and caretakers don’t or don’t know how."

What do the experts say?

According to one parenting pro and mum-of-two Kirsty Ketley, you should never give in when your kid is throwing a tantrum – this will make them a brat, she told Fabulous.

''The biggest thing – and I know it's hard – is to remain calm,'' said Kirsty.

''Take a big, deep breath […] and remain as calm as possible – because you can be more in control when you're calm.''
