I fell for a woman online but she wouldn’t meet so I assumed she was a catfish – I was beaming when I learned the truth | The Sun

A LOVESTRUCK man found himself infatuated with a woman he met online but he suspected she was a catfish based on red flags.

He assumed because she wouldn't meet, she was conning him but was pleasantly surprised by the truth.

Moses, a 40-year-old theater student from Los Angeles, was sure that he had been conned.

Freshly out of a marriage of eleven years, the bachelor has since been trying to get back on the horse.

"There's a girl I met named Krystal, she's an artist and she's beautiful," he explained to the hosts of MTV's Catfish: The TV Show.

Moses explained he had been talking to Krystal, a 32-year-old residing in Anaheim for about four months and occasionally sends her money and pays for motels and Uber rides.

"I don't just want to date her, I'm ready to share my life with her, I feel like I've found the one," he admitted.

Despite his intense feelings, Moses had yet to meet Krystal, who kept dodging his many attempts to see her.

On one occasion, Moses arrived at the hotel room he had paid for, for Krystal, only to find out she refused to meet him.

The hosts, Nev and Kamie, took it upon themselves to track down Krystal and call her cell phone, but the three were shocked when a man picked up.

"Kinda sounds like a dude, that was weird," Nev said.

Despite all the red flags, Moses was pleasantly surprised when the hosts drove him to Crystal's supposed home.

A woman, wearing sunglasses, greeted Nev at the door: "Krystal right?" Nev asked her.

"Yes, I'm Krystal," she said.

Although Krystal ended up not being a catfish, she revealed she had a lot of reasons for why she strung Moses along.

"It has a lot to do with me, I feel like I'm not capable of being there all the time, especially since I have to support my mom and grandma," she said.

She also explained that due to her financial situation, she didn't feel worthy of love.

"As a lady, something I've been taught, something that I believe in is that I don't deserve a true man such as yourself if I can even [pay my phone bill], be a real lady," she said.

"I literally couldn't afford to see you all the time."

Krystal explained the man who picked up the phone was actually her uncle and that her own phone was "always on the fritz."

She also explained she refused to meet him at the motel because she was insecure about not being able to give Moses what he wanted.

"I'm a phenomenal lady but I don't deserve this gorgeous man if I can't be that phenomenal lady with everything that phenomenal lady has," she said.

"I don't have it all but I wanted to have you."

During a sit-down chat, Moses reassured Krystal that she didn't need material possessions or success for him to love her.

"I want you for who you are, moving forward, I just want to know we would have an openness to it all," he said.

After a kiss, the two sealed the deal: "That would be a terrible waste," Krystal admitted.

On the car ride back, Moses couldn't stop himself from smiling: "I just went from one second being a dude to the next, being in love," Moses said.

Nev and Kamie followed up with a check-up on the couple, where they were shocked by the results of their investigation.
