I wanted to create my dream English cottage courtyard in our new build garden – we did it all ourselves but I love it | The Sun

WITH summer right around the corner you might be looking forward to finally spending some time in your garden.

Why not take a page out of Louisa Grace's book and spruce it up so you can really be the talk of the town.

Louisa's new build garden looked pretty generic before she started working on it.

When she moved in the garden was boring and basic, with a large patch of grass and a small patio area, it already had the makings of a stunning space.

But the gardening whizz wanted a bit more wow-factor, so decided to switch things up and instead create a dreamy English cottage style courtyard with plenty of flowers and posh garden furniture.

She covered most of the grassy area to extend the patio, making more room for planters and a mix of tables and chairs ready for summer garden parties.

The picnic style table added the perfect classic touch, while the corner sofa made it just modern enough.

Louisa also added plenty of lights to the new garden, including string lights around the pergola and solar powered lights in some of the flower beds, which ended up looking very posh.

But it was really the small touches which made the biggest difference – a small wooden birdhouse on the fence, an outdoor clock, pillows and blankets ready to use on the patio furniture, and a few candles for added ambience.

Louisa said one of the goals she had when transforming the garden was to make it low-maintenance and private – which she achieved with a few simple changes.

One commented: "This is so beautiful, I'd love to remove a large portion of my grass and add plants and flowers this way."

A second agreed: "I need a shopping list of everything in your garden!"

"Looks lovely, we're the same with out new build garden, it's too big and we don't know what to do," another wrote.
