I'm a bargain hunter…the best items to buy in Lidl & the foods to avoid – including the cheap baked beans you must ditch | The Sun

A SAVVY shopper has revealed the best items to buy in Lidl, as well as the foods you’ll want to avoid.

So if you do your food shopping in Lidl, or fancy taking a trip there to see what the much-loved middle aisle is all about, then you’ve come to the right place.

Sharing her thoughts online, bargain hunter Kathryn Leech, who is also known on social media as ‘Kat Saves’ explained that the oat milk and the strawberry ice cream are definitely worth purchasing, but the Simply baked beans and the mild cheddar cheese aren’t as impressive.

The discount devil shared her opinions on social media, as she said: “Best and worst food in Lidl – we’re kicking it off with the best food.

“This oat barista milk – it’s the same as Oatly, just a lot cheaper. Definitely worth the swap.

“This coffee [instant gold coffee], was on a list I found online of the best food in Lidl. Let me know what you think of this coffee.

NOT WORTH IT

I’m a bargain hunter and here’s six things you should never buy from M&S

“These high protein mousses went viral for a reason – they are so good.

“And this ice cream – strawberry ice cream – it’s the same as Carte D’or, it is so worth it, so worth the price.

“And these baked beans [Newgate] – they are so similar to Heinz and they are incredibly cheap.”

Kat then revealed the foods that she won’t be putting in her trolley, as she continued: “Which leads me on to the worst product – these baked beans [Simply baked beans].

"They are so watery, there’s like 10p difference in the other ones, just get the other baked beans.

“This rice pudding [Simply rice pudding] again is very watery. Not worth it in my opinion.

“If you’re a cheese lover you will not like this cheese [Simply mild white cheddar]. It is very rubbery and very, very cheap."

Kat also claimed: “This cheese [Valley Spire high protein mature cheese] is a new one, it says it’s high protein, but it actually has no more protein in it than normal cheese.

“And these baked potatoes [Bannisters] in the frozen section. All you need to do is buy a potato and do it yourself, this is not worth it.”

The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @katsaves, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly amassed a whopping 114,900 views.

But social media users were left divided at Kat’s thoughts – while some couldn’t agree more, others were quick to disagree.

One person said: “Coffee is good, I tried it’s better than Nescafe gold.”

Another added: “Literally just got that cheese, had it today [and it] tasted awful.”

However, at the same time, one user disagreed with Kat and wrote: “The frozen baked potatoes are amazing, literally like five mins in the microwave, my go to dinner when I don’t wanna cook.”
