I’m a cleaning whizz – here’s how to keep your oven sparkling clean with two hero ingredients you already own | The Sun

CLEANING inside your oven can be a really tough task – but one woman has a cheap and easy solution you can try out on your appliance.

Many people hate cleaning their ovens and some even get a professional to do it for them.

But it’s actually easier than you might think if you use a couple of quick tricks when giving it a wash.

TikTok user @mama_mila_ has detailed her money-saving method with ingredients you should already have in your cupboard.

First, you need to mix a cup of bicarbonate of soda with 1/3 of a cup of washing up liquid.

This is then stirred into a paste which you will apply to your oven.

In the clip, she then adds the mixture to the inside of the oven and door with a brush.

This is then left in order to break down grease and tough stains that may be left within your oven.

After two hours, she moves on to scrub inside with a scourer.

She uses a scraper blade to gently remove any burnt on mess on the door, which she says is “amazing at cutting through tough grime easily”.

Chantel says you can use the scraper inside your oven too.

Finally, she lines the clean oven with a reusable oven liner which will keep the appliance clean for even longer.

Explaining how an oven liner works, she told viewers: “Any mess drops onto the liner which is dishwasher safe to wash it easily!”

Baking soda is an effective cleaner due to being an alkaline substance.

Oven grease made of food particles is typically acidic, which is then neutralised by bicarbonate of soda.

This means it’s brilliant for breaking down grease from your food without too much elbow grease.

The ingredient is also described as a mild abrasive, which helps get rid of tough stains.

Dish soap is also a good option as it’s not full of harsh chemicals and is also good at cutting through grease.

Kitchen Aid has offered up advice on how often you should be cleaning your oven.

They say: ‘While the exact cleaning schedule you follow will depend on your specific appliance and cooking needs, ovens should generally be deep cleaned every three months.

‘For ovens that are used more heavily, more frequent cleaning may be necessary. Make sure to wipe up any spills as soon as your oven has cooled after every use.
