PICKING THE RIGHT DOG to join your family can be a challenging task.

but one vet has made things slightly easier by revealing which five dog breeds she would personally never own.



Taking to TikTok, Cat the Vet, from the UK shared why she would never get these breeds.

She explained: "Here are five dog breeds I would not personally own."

The first one was a German Shephard, who are known for being a guard dog.

But Cat warned: "They're not bred to guard, they're bred to be suspicious and anxious which makes them really reactive dogs.

"If they have a bad experience they never forget it."

Next was any flat-faced breeds such as Pugs or Boston Terriers, which are know to suffer breathing problems due to breeding.

"Absolutely fabulous little dogs but they do not deserve to suffer as muchas they do and I absolutely could never contribute to that suffering by deliberately owning one," she added.

The third dog the vet shies away from owning is a working Border Collie.

She explained working ones need a job and won't cope well in afamily home as they suffer mental health problems if they aren't occupied.

Shar Peis are another dog that the vet would avoid owning, mainly because of their health problems.

She added: "Generally a breed that doesn't appeal to me personally, but also again lots of health problems and lots of behavioural issues as well which often because of their health.

"They're in pain and discomfort and that makes them grumpy."

Finally, the vet said she would never own a Saint Bernard or large breed of dog with lots of jowls.

She added: "Quite honestly I just cannot cope with the slobber.

"Generally really lovely dogs, very sweet," she added: "But honestly I am just not a good enough housewife to keep up with these guys."
