I’m an interior whizz and here’s how to create a limewash wall for under a tenner – it's so quick and easy too | The Sun

WHILE we all want our homes to look fabulous, with the cost-of-living crisis putting a huge strain on many people and their finances, splashing the cash on getting the decorators in is something that many people haven’t got on their to-do-list at the moment.

But if you want to give your home a re-fresh without breaking the bank, you’ve come to the right place as we’ve got just the thing for you.

Chrystal, a DIY whizz known on TikTok as @chrystalspalace, has 67.4k followers and 723.1k likes on the social media app.

For those that haven’t heard of limewash, it’s a style of paint that creates surfaces that are mottled and matte, with a chalky texture.

Limewash creates a textured, shadowy effect and while you can buy pre-made limewash pots of paint from places such as Farrow & Ball, these come with a hefty price tag.

But fear not, if you want your home to feature the modern limewash, but while on a budget, a savvy DIY fan has shared how she does it herself.

Not only is this hack really simple, but it won’t cost you any more than £10 either.

Chrystal uploaded her quick and easy tutorial video with the caption ‘still not completely finished but here’s the tutorial’.

“First I popped to B&Q and grabbed some of their testers.

“You want to mix a bit of the paint with a lot of water.

“Then grab a cloth or an old rag, dip it into the mix and rub it onto the wall in circular motions.

“That is pretty much it.

“Personally, I love that it’s way less commitment, because when you’re tired of it, you literally just paint over it, since it’s literally just watered down paint.

“Here’s what it looks like dried down – I absolutely love it”.

Chrystal then confirmed: “I mainly used the Tijuana tester from B&Q!”

One user asked: “How much water roughly to ratio of paint would you say?” to which Chrystal confirmed “Like 30% paint 70% water”.

We think Chrystal’s limewash wall looks fabulous and clearly many others did too.
