WHETHER she's looking for a new dress, swimwear or a pair of cute heels, high street favourite Primark is always the first place Chantelle Mcsharry will visit.

Contracts Manager Chantelle, from Falkirk, is a self-confessed Primark superfan, and visits the store up to four times a week, spending up to £300 a month on bargain buys.

However, even Chantelle, 28, confesses she struggles with the sizing at times, and while looking for the perfect summer shorts recently she found the options came up, well, short.

She says: "Sadly when I went there wasn't a great amount of choice, as most sizes left when I visited were between a 4 and 12, and there we practically no plus size sizes left.

"I'm a size 14 but tried on a size 16 as I always size up across all shorts, but even then unsurprisingly the different types of materials and styles meant the size and fit really varied."

"I don't care what size is on the tag but there just doesn't seem to be consistency with sizing within stores at all.

Here, Chantelle – who recently shared her thoughts on the top Primark summer dresses – gives her verdict from her shorts shopping trip…

Comfortable and cute

A simple pair of shorts are a holiday must-have, especially if they're comfy.

Chantelle says: "I loved the string to pull-in and tie, and the fabric so soft which was great and comfortable.

"They fitted really well and are £13.

"However they were quite similar to other pairs I picked up, which were cheaper."

Didn't fit over my thighs

Chantelle says: "I loved these high waisted skirt type shorts but I just couldn't even get them up!

"Usually I wouldn't share a photo, but I recently entered a pageant called Miss Voluptuous and am running for Miss United Kingdom.

ON THE FENCE

I came home from work & learned my neighbour had let a stranger paint my fence

"It's really given me the confidence to not care what others think.

"Everyone is beautiful in their own way regardless of size and everyone should be able to feel good.

"These shorts I will definitely buy when the right size is in.

"They cost £13 and I would recommend everyone to buy these cute shorts – perfect for holidays, festivals or casual sunny days."

'Felt like a pair of curtains'

Chantelle says: "I hated these shorts, the material just felt like a pair of curtains you'd see at your nan's house.

"These cost £10, and had a zip at the side.

"It was just a no no for me, I wouldn't recommend at all."

Perfect for holidays

Chantelle says: "I loved the elastic waist, but wasn't keen on the pattern.

"However the material felt great – it was thin but perfect for a holiday abroad in the sun, and only cost £5."

A lack of bigger sizes

Chantelle says: "I loved these but again, I would need to size up again due to the material as it had no movement in them.

"They had them in black as well but again there were only smaller sizes when I went.

"I'm started to envy those who are smaller, as the bigger sizes seem to be sparse at the moment!

"These cost £13."

'Can't go wrong'

Chantelle says: "I love these – you can't go wrong with a pair of black shorts.

"They make you feel good, and the colour black looks great on anyone.

"They were a great material and has a stretchy waist and tie, which is just a great combination.

"Fabric felt great and these cost £5, another winner."

A total bargain

Chantelle says: "The fabric was great, and had an elastic waist – starting to see a trend!

"These would suit anyone I feel.

"They were only £5 – total bargain and seems to be the best materials at the lowest price."

'I felt like a cabbage patch kid'

Chantelle says: "I felt like a cabbage patch kid in these!

"They felt like back in the older days when women wore bloomers for under their dresses.

"Loved the colours and fabric, but they just aren't for me as they aren't my style.

"They were £8, so not too bad for the price."

'I would size up again'

Chantelle says: "These pale green shorts didn't do anything for me but they do feel great on.

"They're nice and fitted but I think I would size up again.

"They were thin so I think best to be pull-on shorts for over your swimsuit.

"These cost £11, which I wouldn't pay considering there were much nicer shorts at half the price."

A definite hit

Chantelle says: "I loved the neutral colour of these shorts and they were floaty and airy which is just great!
