Buckingham Palace has released a photo of King Charles III, Queen Consort Camilla, Prince William and Kate, Princess of Wales on the eve of the Queen’s funeral. The royal four posed for the picture before an event was held at the palace, wearing black ensembles as the royal mourning period for the Queen’s death continued.

In the picture, Charles can be seen standing with his hand in his pocket while his arm is tucked around the Queen Consort’s waist.

Prince William stood proudly next to his father in the middle, supported by his wife Kate who put a loving hand on his back.

The royals flashed their smiles for the camera, and the Princess of Wales made sure to pay a subtle tribute to the late royal, Prince Philip.

Kate wore a black Catherine Walker coat dress with buttons and bow-neck detailing, the same outfit she wore for Prince Philip’s funeral in Windsor last April.

Kate was pictured wearing the dress when she met the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, at Buckingham Palace that same day.

The Princess paired the dress with a pair of sheer black tights and her signature black heeled pumps.

Kate wore her hair in a wave of curls and she donned minimal jewels with incredible sentimental value to the Royal Family.

She wore a pair of show-stopping diamond and pearl earrings from the collection of her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana, which she has worn several times before.

On her wrist, Kate also appeared to be wearing the late Princess’ three-strand pearl bracelet.

Pearls have been considered appropriate for mourning in the Royal Family since the Victorian era, with the gems symbolising tears.

Kate appears to be a fan of this particular coat dress by Catherine Walker as she also owns it in striking red.

She wore the red version last Christmas, when she hosted her own televised carol concert at Westminster Abbey.

The official photo of the new royal line-up was taken just before the King and Queen Consort hosted world leaders at a Buckingham Palace reception.

Guests at the high-profile event included US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden, along with French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, First Lady Brigitte Macron.

The following day, the Royal Family paid tribute to the Queen at her funeral at Westminster Abbey and at a committal service at St George’s Chapel, Windsor.

Kate wore a black coat dress and a matching hat with a veil, in keeping with the royal tradition of wearing veils to the funeral of a monarch.

The Princess donned black pumps, sheer tights and a matching black clutch, and she accessorised with several pearl jewels from the late Queen’s collection.

Poignantly, the four-strand pearl choker Kate wore for the Queen’s funeral was the same necklace she wore for Prince Philip’s funeral.

Kate’s only daughter Princess Charlotte also wore a black coat dress like her mum, which she paired with a grown-up black hat.

She wore a horseshoe brooch, a gift from her late great-grandmother to honour their shared love of horses.
