A GARDENER shared her tips for how she takes her cucumbers to the next level.
She said the gardening hack would be a little scary but is worth it in the end.
The urban gardener (@theyoungnonno) shared the hack with over 14,000 TikTok followers.
"Try this for better airflow, pollination, production, and to prevent leaf mold and mildew," she said.
She explained that she regularly prunes her cucumbers of excess growth.
"Suckers are extra-growth branches of plants," she explained.
She gave advice on how to easily find the growth: "Follow the main stem upwards to a junction of a flower, leaf, and tendril, that's where the sucker is growing," she explained.
She easily punched the excess growth off the plant.
While it can help, she added that not all growth needed to be removed.
"Not every sucker needs to be removed, just try to prevent intersecting branches and better direct growth to open areas," she explained.
