Queen Letizia & Princess Alessandra don same dress – one ‘steals show’

Queen Letizia of Spain, 50, and King Felipe, 54, attended the “Princesa De Asturias” Awards 2022 ceremony at Oviedo Bullring on October 28, 2022, alongside their teenage daughters Princess Leonor, 16, and Infanta Sofia, 15.  The Queen Consort wore a dress which some fans recognised from a different outing by another royal.

Royal fan @CoutureRoyals tweeted: “Queen Letizia is wearing the same Carolina Herrera dress that Princess Alessandra of Hanover wore at the Royal Theatre back in 2018!”

Twitter user @Royals_borough responded by saying: “Oooh I love that dress.”

Similarly, @IDolikes added: “Both have excellent taste in dresses.”

Royal fashion expert @polkadotpopp commented: “And here’s me thinking Letizia was in a repeat tonight, she’s not. I was thinking of Alessandra.”

The dress in question was a Carolina Herrera “Embellished Chiffon-Paneled Midi Dress”, previously worn by Princess Alessandra of Hanover in 2018.

Officially titled Princess Christian of Hanover, Alessandra de Osma, 34, is a Peruvian attorney, handbag designer, and former model.

She is a member of the Hanoverian Royal Family through her marriage to Prince Christian of Hanover, 37, who she tied the knot with in 2017.

Alessandra first wore the Carolina Herrera dress when she went on a date night with Christian to watch the play ‘El Cascanueces’ during Gala Teatro Real 2018 in Madrid.

The Princess’ monochrome dress featured white sleeves and a neckline that was embroidered with delicate pearls and beading, with a black satin bustier and skirt that cinched in her waist to perfection.

Complementing the look, Alessandra wore a pair of black drop earrings, embellished court shoe heels and a pink clutch bag to add a pop of colour.

The Princess also carried a faux fur stole over her arm for when the temperature dropped.

In contrast, Queen Letizia of Spain wore her Isabel Abdo “Carrie Black Suede Slingback Pumps”, which retail for €180, or roughly £154.

She also wore a gorgeous pair of earrings gifted by Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Sheikh of Qatar.

These jewels are a simple pair of 14-carat white gold Candelabra diamond earrings.

They were a gift from the Sheikh of Qatar and were purchased from an Indian brand, Fiona Diamonds.

They retail for a whopping £2,304.59.

Royal fan @betsomo wrote on Instagram: “Stunning, classy Letizia.”

Another fan, @mnunez028 added: “Beautiful dress .. steals the show.”

The Instagram page @royalfashionpolice ran a poll on their story, asking which of the royal women “wore it better”.

Coming in first place with only a small lead was Queen Letizia of Spain, with 60 percent of the vote. This left Alessandra de Osma in second place with 40 percent of the vote.
