“[Then] you can easily find any draughty spots whenever the candle flickers.”

Once you identify where these are in the home thanks to her nifty trick, it’s time to take action to ensure no more warmth makes its way out of your home.

Her top tip was to seal the places up with some weatherstripping tape, which can be bought from hardware stores or online on sites like Amazon.

She continued: “Other places you might find draughts is around any piping, and in this case you can just use some tape to close up those gaps.”

But this wasn’t the YouTuber’s only tip to help you ward off the cold this winter.

She also suggested investing in a space heater, as she said: “You can place them near to wherever you’re hanging out.”

This will then “warm up the air around you without having to turn up the heat on the entire floor.”

Her third piece of advice was to create a DIY humidifier by boiling a pan of water on the hob to help heat the air.

Similarly, she encouraged others to keep their shower door open after having a shower so that the steam can move around the property.

The social media user’s penultimate tip was to take advantage of the minimal sunlight in winter and get to know when it’s on your house.

She explained: “Essentially what you want to do is capture the heat from the sun.

“When the sun is coming directly into your windows, you want to open up all of your shades, let the sun come in and naturally help to heat up your house.

“As soon as the sun has passed over your windows, you want to close the shades to keep the heat in.”

Finally, she said that layering is key, and electric blankets can be your new best friend as it can help heat up key pieces of adventures from your sofa to your bed.
