Corries Sair Khans life off screen from tragic family loss to boyfriends tumour surgery

Sair Khan is best known for playing troubled businesswoman Alya Nazir on Coronation Street.

The 34 year old, who recently gave fans a glimpse into her gorgeous Manchester home, first joined the cast back in 2014 and has become a staple of the show ever since.

Her character Alya has been very unlucky in love as she was forced to leave her coercive and controlling husband Geoff on the show, which ended in her character pursuing a court case against him.

But off-screen, Sair has – for the most part – been significantly luckier when it comes to her real life love life.

She dated fellow actor and National Youth Theatre alumnus Simon Lennon, who she met at a gala to celebrate 60 years of the organization hosted by Buckingham Palace.

Not long after, Sair opened up about how she met her former beau: “A load of ex-members were invited to that evening at Buckingham Palace, so we met through a mutual friend that he’s in Our Girl with. Sadly, the Queen wasn’t there.”

Simon, who has starred in hit shows including Emmerdale and Our Girl, even greeted Sair at the bridge when he came to meet her after her stint on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

Sair took part in the hit reality show in 2018 and finished ninth when she became the third celeb to be eliminated.

However, the brave actress managed to secure every star available to her during her stint in the jungle.

Despite Simon coming to greet her after her appearance, the pair’s love wasn’t to last and they split for good a year later in 2019.

Sair and Simon reportedly broke up due to conflicting work commitments.

That same year, Sair sadly announced that her beloved mum had passed away in a heartbreaking post on Instagram.

She wrote: “My mum died. It’s so hard for me to say those words without getting a lump in my throat” before adding that she’s “cried enough tears to fill the English channel.”

Sair continued on to say that she stands in “solidarity” with everyone who has lost a parent and explained that she still believes her mother is watching over her.

After her difficult break-up and the loss of her mum, Sair was able to pick herself back up again and even take on new challenges, including learning to swim on TV for Channel 4’s Sink or Swim.

The 34 year old also found love again in 2021 when she started dating chiropractor Nathan Chilton, who she reportedly met through a mutual pal.

The two went public in 2021 but are thought to have first met in late 2020.

Nathan documented his health struggles as he was forced to go under the knife to remove a benign bone tumour on his pelvis.

He was initially scheduled to have the procedure on 29 December 2021 but faced a last minute delay when the surgeon fell ill.

Nathan described the ordeal as an “anti climax” and that he was told just mere minutes before he was due to go under that it wouldn’t be happening, leaving him in “disbelief.”

He was finally able to have the op on 20 January 2022, with girlfriend Sair supporting him every step of the way.

On her Instagram stories, Sair wrote that she was “so proud” of how “open and vulnerable” her boyfriend had been about his health ordeal and that she hoped his journey might bring comfort to others in the same situation.
