In the clip, which has so far been viewed more than 1.5 million times, Alex appears alongside Melinda – who refer to themselves as ‘your favorite internet parents’

He speaks to camera as he reads out a comment from one of his followers which read: ‘Which one of us is the password child?’

Alex, who has gained more than 5.2 million followers, then continues: ‘Okay so the password child is like when you’re trying to watch your parents Netflix but it’s locked out.

‘So then you ask “what’s the password” and then they say your name or one of your siblings names.

‘Then, whosever name that is, is the favorite child.’

And social media users were stunned by the revelation as others claimed this proved they were in fact the preferred child.

One wrote: ‘Wait, what? I thought the password child is the one who knows all the passwords in the house.’

Another added: ‘Wait me and my sister not the favs because our dog’s name is the password.’

And a third simply said: ‘See I told you!’

The definition of the ‘password child’ is the sibling whose name or date of birth is commonly used to log into online accounts – and is therefore perceived to be the favorite.

Parents will often publicly deny having a favorite child – but it seems that this is not necessarily true. 

In a previous study, published in the Journal of Marriage and Family, researchers found that 70 per cent of fathers and 74 per cent of mothers demonstrated preferential treatment to one of their children.
