Sarah Ferguson reveals she went to a ‘dog whisperer’ to learn about how the late Queen corgis were grieving the monarch – and shares her grandchildren’s sweet nickname for her

Sarah Ferguson has revealed that she sought out a ‘dog whisperer’ to ask about how the Queen’s corgis were ‘grieving’ their loss.

Speaking on Loose Women in a candid interview today, Prince Andrew’s ex-wife, 63,  spoke about caring for the dogs after the monarch had passed.

‘I went to a dog whisperer and said, “Now tell me about grief”,’ she said. ‘And he said, “Just at night just make sure they have their own space”.

‘Yeah, so I do. Because I think they were grieving…their little tails went down. And I wanted to make them have waggy tails.’

The mother of Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie also revealed her grandchildren’s adorable nickname for her – and gushed that she adores being a grandmother.

Fergie’s daughter Princess Beatrice has a daughter, Sienna, two, and a stepson Wolfie while Princess Eugenie has a son, August, two. 

She remarked: ‘It really annoys me though, is that “oh you’re a granny now, you’re a mummy now”.’

‘I say, no I’m a woman, I’m strong, I’ve got a voice and I’m an author. I’m starting a new job – and also I am a new grandma and I am a mum.

‘But actually they call me Gigi…like the film.’

Sarah – who is commonly affectionally called ‘Fergie’ also shared a trinket-decorated Easter basket – adorned with bells and various whimsical additions – which she says signal to her grandchildren that she has arrived. 

‘They hear me coming,’ she said. ‘”Gigi coming, Gigi coming”.’

During the interview Sarah also once again reiterated the sentiment that ‘you can’t have it both ways’ when you leave the Royal Family in what appeared to be a thinly-veiled attack at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Speaking to the panelists, she revealed that her plans for the Coronation are to ‘watch it on the telly’, put up some bunting and enjoy ‘a little tea room and a coronation chicken sandwich’.

The Duchess is even considering driving the corgis over for a visit at a nearby elderly home. 

‘I always love to watch it on telly because you hear a lot on telly, the commentator’s always good and then all the family come back,’ she explained, seemingly hinting she didn’t expect to be involved so closely in Family affairs.

‘Because remember I am divorced from him so I don’t expect…you can’t have it both ways. You can’t be divorced and say “I want this”.’

Sarah continued: ‘I think it’s really great to be supportive…also when the family come home I know all the ins and outs and commentating on television.’

Fergie also praised her former brother-in-law as she anticipated a huge day for both the ‘nation’ and ‘globe’. 

‘He’s going to be an amazing King and lovely Camilla by his side,’ the Duchess said, praising his environmental efforts in particular. 

She also thinks it’s ‘great’ that Camilla will be the ‘Queen’ rather than ‘Queen Consort’ as she’s been ‘there with him tirelessly’. 

Sarah had even earlier stressed the message that people ‘can’t have it both ways’ if they choose to leave, saying they must decide whether they want to be ‘in or out’.

The Duchess spoke candidly in an interview amid speculation whether Prince Harry and Meghan Markle who stepped down as senior members of the royal family, will attend the coronation.  

Speaking to The Independent, she said ‘you chose to leave, now go and live it’, adding: ‘Well, you can’t have it both ways. You can’t sit on the fence and keep one foot in and one foot out. You’re either in or out.’
