Supermarkets like Tesco and Asda have slashed the price of many toys

Retail giants including Tesco, Argos and Asda slash prices on popular toys in the run-up to Christmas as cash-strapped parents look for savings amid a cost-of-living crisis

Tesco has launched a half-price toy sale to help parents in the run up to Christmas, with other supermarkets and stores following suit. 

The supermarket giant is launching a huge Christmas sale on a number of its toys, with many discounted by 40 to 50 per cent.

The only snag is that you’ll need a ClubCard, reports The Sun. 

Meanwhile, Asda and Argos are also slashing prices on some of their toys.

Among the discounts are popular brands including Lego, with a Lego Friends Value pack is down from £40 to £24 in Tesco – a saving of £16.

While the Lego Forest House has a smaller discount, down from £25 to £16.50. 

Shoppers can pick up a hy-pro football table for £12, down from £24 and half the price.

While cuddly Squishmallow toys are discounted to £11.50, down from £23 – another half price offer, as is a Peppa Pig 123 soft toy, down 50 per cent from £22 to £11.

The supermarket is launching the discounts from Monday October 3 until November 2 across 260 of its stores.

Many Lego items are discounted at Tesco and other stores, including this Lego Forest House has a smaller discount, down from £25 to £16.50

At Tesco, this Peppa Pig soft toy was discounted from £22 to £11 with a loyalty Clubcard, one of the products that are half price 

Anne Borrett, Tesco’s toy category manager, said: ‘We know that with the cost of living squeeze Christmas can be quite a strain on the wallet – especially for families with more than one child – so we want to make it easier for them to spread the cost of buying presents.’ 

Toys will be discounted by as much as 50 per cent but shoppers will need a Clubcard – which offers customers discounts on selected products. 

Shoppers can also build up points which can be used to purchase items in-store or at one of Tesco’s partners.

Savvy shoppers are also being urged to checking shopping comparison sites pricespy.co.uk and CamelCamelCamel, which tell you where to buy something at the lowest price.

You can also type in a product into Google to see where it is being sold for the cheapest. 

Meanwhile, George and Tesco have slashed the price of the Sylvanian Families Bluebell Cottage.

Full-price at £70, it is on sale at Tesco for £42, George at £40 and at The Baby Farm for £39.99.

Tesco and Aldi also has offers on Squishmallow soft toys.
