A woman who was sick of limescale showing up on her trendy black sink has revealed her four-step routine for keeping the area gleaming.

TikTok user Chrystal, from the UK,  went viral earlier this month when she shared the cleaning hack with her 77,400 followers.

In a video that’s amassed over 200,000 views, the social media star said she wished she had a more practical sink when she was refurbishing her kitchen.

She explained: ‘I regret buying my black sink. Living in a hard water area has made it a complete nightmare to keep clean.

‘Limescale, rust, you name it – it’s there [in the sink].’

Before: Chrystal shared clips of the limescale and rust build-up in her black sink before she started her four-step routine

After: Chrystal said the whole process takes 30 minutes and makes the sink look as good as new

But rather than replacing her perfectly functional sink, Chrystal has come up with a short routine that eradicates the grime – and keeps it looking sparkling for longer.

Walking her followers through each step, she said: ‘First things first, grab some lemons that you’ve got lying around.

‘I’m telling you, lemons are so underrated. Cut them up, squeeze the juice all over the sink and then add some vinegar to the rusty parts.’

This acidic combination works to tackle limescale without damaging the sink.

She then proceeded to cover the draining area in cling-film and let the mixture sit for 10 minutes.

After this, Chrystal scrubbed the lemon juice and white vinegar away with some £1.50 Pink Stuff paste – which contains small exfoliating beads.

She continued: ‘Then you want to rinse it all off and dry it with a cloth.’

Once she’d completed this step, Chrystal wiped the area down with some baby oil – which she dubbed her ‘secret sauce’.

Chrystal’s video has amassed over 18,000 ‘likes’ and 200,000 views since it was uploaded three days ago

Some of Chrystal’s viewers joked that her sink has a ‘better skincare regime’ than they did themselves

Chrystal’s routine:

– soak the area in lemon juice and vinegar

– cover the area in cling film for 10 minutes

– scrub away with the Pink Stuff paste

– lather in baby oil

She explained: ‘The baby oil helps to repel the water and prevent the limescale build-up.

‘Trust me, it makes all the difference.’

In total, Chrystal  says the routine takes about half an hour from start to finish and leaves her sink looking like new again.

She captioned the clip: ‘I still regret buying this sink but let me tell you.. that baby oil is a GAMECHANGER.’

Chrystal’s video has amassed over 18,700 ‘likes’ since it was posted three days ago – and viewers were impressed by the impression transformation by the end.

One replied: ‘Sink is getting a spa treatment!’

Another joked: ‘[Your] sink has got better skincare [regime] than me!’

‘Basically moisturising the sink,’ a third wrote.

‘Thank you girl,’ a fourth said. ‘I needed this!’
