Earlier this week, Express.co.uk reported that Freeview signals could be disputed by the unusual weather that’s currently hovering over the UK. This band of high pressure is capable of wreaking havoc with TVs including homes seeing temporary pixelation on the screen and channels disappearing.

Freeview issued a warning on Monday saying some users could be affected by these atmospheric conditions and it appears that the glorious sunshine has definitely not been enjoyed by everyone.

Down Detector, which monitors outages across the globe, has been flooded with reports about Freeview’s signal with some saying they have lost a swathe of popular channels.

“Day three of NO Freeview signal when is the situation going to be resolved,” asked Philip on Down Detectors’ forum page.

And a user named Alan added: “Absolutely awful for the last 3 days most nights have switched off early as you can’t watch a program without it cutting off or pixelating this system is becoming useless disgusting Hertfordshire”

It’s not just more obscure services affected by these conditions with Freeview customer Lucy confirming: “All channels dropping out yesterday and today, even BBC.”

If you’ve been having issues then Freeview has issued some important advice that’s worth remembering – don’t start retuning your TV or set-top box as it won’t have any impact.

“You are advised not to retune your TV during this time,” Freeview said in a post on its service page.

The high pressure will move away today, October 11, and your TV should return to normal without you having to dig into the settings.

One final thing to note. If the weather changes again, there’s always the option to watch television via Freeview Play. This uses a broadband connection to beam live and on demand shows to the screen and isn’t affected by conditions outside.
