The Yorkshire Shepherdess Amanda Owen will soon be back on screens for more country adventures in a new series of Our Yorkshire Farm. In the meantime, she has opened up about her rocky personal life over the past year when she swung by the Channel 4 studio with some woolly companions for a quick update on Steph’s Packed Lunch.

Amanda admitted to Steph her life behind the scenes on the Channel 5 reality series is just as chaotic as ever following her split with husband Clive.

The reality stars and sheep farmers announced their separation after 22 years of marriage in June this year.

Thankfully, their nine children and working on the hit documentary series has kept her busy over the past months.

“Yeah, I’m alright!” Amanda reassured Steph McGovern after the presenter brought up her recent appearances in the press.

“I get in the press for everything, from short skirts to what’s going on at home. You name it.

“It’s just a weird situation. But we’re actually all just fine, just getting on with it.”

However, with nine children at home and hundreds of animals to look after, Amanda’s day-to-day life still looks a lot different compared to most of the rest of the UK.

She continued: “Vital statistics: still nine children, a whole heap of animals.”

“Don’t even ask me quite how much sheep, but there’s probably 800+ sheep. 40-odd cows, four horses, six-seven dogs. I don’t quite know.

“It’s chaos, but good chaos. But that’s what people love, to see what’s going on in the farm.”

The Yorkshire Shepherdess was joined by two sheep and two goats on Steph’s Monday afternoon show.

While the sheep remained well-behaved in their small enclosure, the small goats were in danger of causing chaos as they roamed around the studio.

Amanda went on to recall how working on Our Yorkshire Farm gave both her and many of the show’s viewers a new lease of life during the Covid pandemic.

“Particularly during Covid, the pandemic, for a lot of people it was their only breath of fresh air,” she said.

With both kids and animals to keep on top of at home, Amanda joked she has learned to “lower her standards” to keep the farm running.

“The point is, it’s just about prioritising what’s important,” she explained.

“Are the kids alright? Is everything going on? Other than that…

“I’m no domestic goddess… but you just get on with it. That’s why people loved watching the programme and reading the books because it’s something everybody can relate to.

“The best laid plans don’t always come to fruition, and you just have to get on with it.”

Channel 5 has yet to confirm when new episodes of Our Yorkshire Farm will be back, but Amanda finished her chat with Steph by confirming she has plenty more projects in the pipeline.

Our Yorkshire Farm is available to stream on My5. Steph’s Packed Lunch airs weekdays from 12:30pm on Channel 4.
