Each year when the celebrities start to get announced for the Strictly Come Dancing line-up, Ben Shephard’s name is often rumoured. However, the Good Morning Britain host revealed the reason people won’t be seeing him on the show anytime soon is down to his wife.

With the current series of the BBC dance show coming to an end over the next few weeks, fans are already looking forward to who will be starring in next year’s line-up.

Known for having a dance degree, Good Morning Britain’s Ben usually has his name thrown around as a potential contestant.

As many of his co-hosts have taken part in the series, including Ranvir Singh, Kate Garraway and Susanna Reid, people are keen to see the presenter get his dancing shoes on.

Although to the disappointment of many fans, they won’t be seeing Ben shimmying in sequins anytime soon.

The 47-year-old revealed the main reason he wouldn’t take part in the popular BBC show is down to his marriage,

He confessed: “I really do think it would be a lot for our relationship.

“It would be intense, everybody’s got an opinion about your Rumba or your Salsa.”

Recently, the ITV host appeared on The One Show with Strictly’s Shirley Ballas as the duo performed a Salsa.

Ben commented on the number of messages he got after his routine with the head judge was overwhelming.

“I’ve loved watching her do something as life-affirming as dancing, I know the joy you get from dancing and the endorphins.

“I’ll never say never but now’s not the right time. It’s all-consuming.”

Currently, the Countryfile star is at the joint top of the leaderboard with actor Will Mellor as the duo received a score of 39 for their routines in the quarter-final.

The mum-of-three received high praise from the four judges with her professional partner Gorka Márquez for their couple’s choice routine to Mein Herr from the musical Cabaret.

Helen also impressed viewers at home as the presenter made it through to the semi-finals on December 11.

Sadly, it marked the end of the road for Kym Marsh who returned to the competition following a week off due to covid.

Speaking about her exit, the Morning Live host commented: “My dad has been so proud and it’s kind of kept him going.

‘When he was in the hospital last week, and obviously we weren’t here, all these guys sent him videos and it meant such a lot. My grandchildren are so proud.”
