Coronation Street star Daniel Brocklebank has shared a sweet tribute to co-star Harriet Bibby, who plays Summer Spellman in the ITV soap, to his 144,000 Instagram followers.

The Billy Mayhew actor shared a selfie of the two of them grinning at the camera while in costume on set.

‘As TV daughters go, this one is pretty bloody awesome. The lovely Harriet Bibby,’ he captioned the sweet picture, adding a red love heart emoji.

Harriet herself was quick to reply with a touching message of her own.

‘You’re the best TV dad a girl could ask for!’ She wrote.

Co-stars also flocked to the comments, with Abi Webster actress Sally Carman writing: ‘She’s the best.’

Former co-star James Craven, who played Aaron Sandford until earlier this year, wrote: ‘Look at you two!’

Fans were also pleased to see the pair looking so happy, with one saying: ‘Lovely pic, looking good you two.’

‘AWW YOU TWO ARE ADORABLE,’ Another said, while a third added: ‘That pic has really brightened my morning!’

While Harriet and Dan are all smiles, life has been less joyful for their onscreen characters in the past few months.

Billy’s partner, Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) has recently been diagnosed with motor neurone disease, something which has hit their family unit hard.

In recent scenes, Billy was left horrified when Paul asked him to help him die when the time came.

However, a chat with Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) soon changed his mind, and when Billy revealed that he thought he was going to propose, Paul decided that that wasn’t such a bad idea and decided to pop the question.

Summer hasn’t had an easy year of it either, having offered to be a surrogate for Mike and Esther with disastrous consequences.

She was then left heartbroken to discover that boyfriend Aaron had ‘cheated on her’ with Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney), but things got worse when she learnt the truth behind the situation – that Aaron had raped Amy.

With their on-screen characters going through so much heartache, it’s nice to see Harriet an Dan cracking a smile.
