Coronation Street: Paul struggles to lift his wine glass

Coronation Street’s Paul Foreman (played by Peter Ash) will find his MND condition is worsening in upcoming episodes which are bound to be an emotional one for viewers to watch.

Paul was diagnosed with the devastating condition in April and the future he has feared ever since will soon become real.

Official spoilers for the ITV soap reveal Paul will begin to struggle to walk and will need more assistance with getting around.

In scenes yet to air, Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) notices Paul is struggling with his right leg as the pair walk around the flower shop flat.

Paul does his best to cover, secretly dismayed at his deterioration.

Billy returns home with a walking aid for Paul, who admits it will take some getting used to.

He suggests a wheelchair instead, but Paul is horrified at the very idea.

Later, Paul is presented with an engagement ring for his birthday, and he is soon overcome with emotion.

But when he turns up at the Bistro for the joint party with Gemma Winter (Dolly-Rose Campbell) he is overwhelmed to see so many people.

Gemma suggests he take Bryn Winter-Brown (Arthur Taylor) outside for a runaround at the park.

When Bryn runs off, Paul tries to go after him but crashes to the ground.

Back at the flat, Paul admits he can’t manage the stairs.

Billy enlists Todd Grimshaw’s (Gareth Pierce) help and between them, they carry Paul up to the flat, but he’s left feeling utterly humiliated.

Later, he reluctantly admits it might be time for a stair lift.

Paul manages to get into the spirit of Pride and is up for fancy dress.

However, he is dismayed when his occupational therapist agrees with Billy that it is probably time for a wheelchair.

Paul is angry at Billy and when David Platt (Jack P. Shepherd) reveals that he found Paul knocking back vodka on a bench, Billy blames himself and explains that they had an argument.

He watches on as three drag queens help Paul out of a taxi and carry him into the Rovers.

As everyone rallies around him, Paul gets upset that it will be his last ever Pride.

Coronation Street continues on Wednesday at 8pm on ITV.
