Hollyoaks boss Bryan Kirkwood has shared some early Christmas gossip with Digital Spy, promising to put the McQueen family at centre stage this year.
The show’s team have been busy filming the festive episodes, which will see the McQueens celebrate their first Yuletide season in charge of The Dog In The Pond.
Fans were delighted recently when Mercedes took over the pub after the Nightingales’ reign came to an end.
Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy, Bryan explained: “We’re very excited about Christmas this year. It’s been many years since we had such a brilliant line-up of McQueen women in the show. For various off-screen reasons, we’ve rarely had Myra, Nana and Mercedes all together at the same time.
“Now with the brilliant additions of Cleo, Sally and Goldie to that line-up, this year is going to be a rocking big McQueen Christmas. It’ll focus on all factions of the family.
“There’s big shocks in store for Prince and Lily and some fantastic reveals. Mercedes throwing her first Christmas at The Dog In The Pond pub will definitely be a culinary disaster!
“There’ll be loads of fun, laughs and shocks – it’s going to be a riot.”
Last year, Hollyoaks‘ Christmas episodes focused on DS Armstrong’s comeuppance as he returned to haunt the Cunningham family and was killed by Milo Entwistle in one of his many “terrible accidents”.
Viewers also saw Courtney Campbell give birth to baby Iona, and Ste Hay give into temptation with killer Ryan Knight.
Hollyoaks airs weeknights at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4.
