13-year-old Lily Slater (Lillia Turner) has given birth to a healthy baby girl in EastEnders, but the name of her daughter has caused confusion among family members.

After a dramatic home birth, Lily and the baby were taken to hospital to be checked over, where they were soon joined by new dad Ricky (Frankie Day) and parents Jack Branning and Denise Fox (Scott Maslen and Diane Parish).

As Ricky held his daughter for the first time, Lily allowed him to reveal her name to their excited parents.

He revealed that they had chosen to call her Charli, which left Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) touched as she asked if it was after her uncle Charlie.

Charlie was the father of Kat, Little Mo, Lynne and Belinda Slater, and grandfather to Zoe. The girls often left him exasperated with their antics and it was safe to say that they had him wrapped around their little fingers.

Viewers were devastated when Charlie sadly died of a heart attack in 2016, 16 years after first appearing on the show.

Stacey soon became emotional over Charli’s name, though she was quickly corrected by young Ricky, who revealed she was actually named after popstar Charli XCX.

While Jack had absolutely no idea who that was, Denise was somewhat informed, and was quick to explain.

Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) also got her hopes up over Charli’s namesake, and was left more than a little confused by Jean’s (Gillian Wright) attempts to explain.

That wasn’t where the surprises stopped though, as Ricky revealed that her full name was Charli Branning Slater.

Jack pointed out that the last time he checked Ricky was a Mitchell, but he was touched when his son revealed that he wanted to change his own name too, because he’d ‘always felt more like a Branning’.

Amid the name confusion, it was clear that Lily was overwhelmed by the idea of having a new baby, having already asked mum Stacey what she was supposed to do with it.

Will 13-year-old Lily be able to cope with being a mother at such a young age?
