Lorraine Kelly health update issued after she misses third day of show

Lorraine Kelly was absent from her ITV show for the third day in a row this week, after coming down with a “hideous” bug.

The TV presenter, 63, was absent from her daytime TV slot on Friday (24 February), marking the third time in a week she’d had to stay home from her presenting duties due to illness.

Luckily, Good Morning Britain’s Ranvir Singh, 45, was on hand to step in, revealing on Thursday that Lorraine was “still recovering” after coming down with a “hideous bug”.

She issued a further update on Friday’s show, saying that Lorraine was “feeling better” and would be back on air on Monday.

Lorraine was replaced by GMB star Ranvir on Wednesday and Thursday’s episode of the presenter’s self-titled show, with her returning to also host Friday’s episode.

During Thursday's Good Morning Britain, Kate Garraway and Ben Shephard went to the Lorraine studio to hear what was happening on the show.

To which Ranvir appeared, joking she was given more notice today than she was yesterday, saying: "Lorraine is still recovering, I got in for 6:30 today so I should be fully prepared for the show today as opposed to yesterday!"

It comes as Lorraine tweeted on Wednesday: "When you have to be sent home from work early in the morning because you are suddenly attacked by a hideous bug and were looking forward to interviewing @adamlambert THAT!"

The presenter added: "Beyond disappointed but imagine if I had infected him !!!!!!"

Lorraine's fans, viewers and celebrity pals were quick to wish the Scottish presenter well after her statement.

Victoria Kennedy, editor of Lorraine, wrote: "Get well soon" with a heart and kiss emoji.

Aled Jones put: "Get well soon lovely x."

One fan wrote: "Oh no! That IS disappointment indeed. He is amazing!!! But thank you for protecting @adamlambert and hope you feel better soon."

Ranvir previously revealed how she had received a call to step-in for Lorraine at short notice and hopped on a train immediately to head to the studio.

Ahead of Lorraine starting on Wednesday, GMB star Kate Garraway went to the ITV studio as she quipped: "Now, the jeopardy, has Ranvir made it in?"

It then cut to Ranvir in the Lorraine studio as she admitted she received a call at 7:18am from ITV and she was on the train by 7:30am to replace Lorraine.

She added: "I'm quite proud of myself this morning. Anyway, we want Lorraine to be well – don't we?! But thanks so much to Kate and Ed [Balls] there."

Lorraine continues on weekdays at 9am on ITV.
