Married At First Sight UK 2023 to be longest season yet after this years drama

Married at First Sight UK is set to get even bigger after the fireworks in the 2022 series.

Airing on E4, the series – which sees total strangers marry minutes after meeting at the altar – landed a whopping 51 million views between September and October on 4OD, according to BARB (Broadcasters Audience Research Board).

The figure is higher than the viewing numbers for any other title on a UK streaming service.

And according to Metro, the 2023 series will be bumped up from seven weeks to an eight-week run as a result, similar to fellow dating phenomenon Love Island.

As for the cast, they'll do well to top Matt Murray, Whitney Hughes, Gemma Rose, Johnathan Wileman, Sophie Brown, Kwame Badu and Kasia London, who experienced more than their fair share of drama on the show.

This year's series wasn't all about lovers' tiffs and huge arguments though as one couple have managed to go the distance.

Jenna Robinson and Zoe Clifton – the show's first lesbian couple – are still going strong and celebrated their romance with an exclusive photoshoot and interview in new! magazine, which saw them open up on life after the show.

"It's like doing a relationship backwards," pointed out Zoe, who happens to own a pickled rat named Mr Pickles.

"We got married, moved in together and once the experiment was over, we went back into normal life. Started dating, getting to know each other in our own home environments."

Her wife added: "We're stronger than ever. Every week [on the show] you're constantly tested, learning about boundaries, whereas now it's nice to just breathe and enjoy each other."

On being the very first lesbian couple to appear on MAFS UK, Zoe added: "It's a big thing for us because it was an opportunity for us to represent and make the community proud. That was quite important to both of us."

Chiming in, Jenna shared: "I think we're just very lucky that our relationship has worked out, that we've both met someone who we genuinely like, and that it has been a success. Because it might have been the complete opposite way.

"But I think we have been, hopefully, a good representation for the lesbian community."

The topic of little ones running around also came into focus, with Zoe revealing that Jenna worries she's going through the menopause.

"Jenna, the other day, thought she was going through menopause because she's so dramatic. Anything that happens to her, she'll self-diagnose. She said, 'I think I'm going through menopause. I feel like I need to freeze some eggs,’ which insinuates…"

Could we have another MAFS baby in the pipeline? Time will tell!
