Naga Munchetty ‘bans’ BBC co-star from studio as she makes grim confession

Naga tells Peter not to sit next to her after jean discovery

BBC Breakfast’s Naga Muchetty caused reporter Peter Ruddick to stammer over his words after making an astonishing admission about laundering her jeans.

Peter was reporting on the economy from a jeans factory in Cardigan and as he signed off he decided to regale Nina and Charlie Stayt with an interesting fact about the popular denim garment.

“One thing I have learned today is that if you want to keep your jeans looking fresh, the secret Naga and Charlie is to not wash them for the first six months!” he exclaimed before asking: “How do you feel about that?”

Rather than express horror, Naga confessed that she didn’t have a problem with the idea. “Well I think I feel fine about it if you don’t wear them every day for six months,” she opined.

“Because that would be weird. Because then I think they would actually get up and walk to the washing machine themselves,” she quipped.

Peter was clearly not prepared for her answer and stammered over his words as he responded.

“So, you’re on board for not washing them for six months so? I think I may not sit next to you on the sofa again,” he laughed nervously.

Although she never wears jeans on air, Naga didn’t miss a beat firing back: “You won’t be invited to sit next to me on the sofa again.”

Her quip came as she sported a stunning black chiffon maxi dress with a multi-coloured polka dot pattern that she had recycled from her wardrobe.

The presenter had previously worn the stunning frock to the Veuve Clicquot Business Woman Awards at the Design Museum in London in 2019

In September, one of her on-screen outfits caused controversy when a  viewer branded it “sleazy”.

The 48-year-old appeared on Saturday morning’s show alongside co-host Charlie Stayt, looking effortlessly chic, wearing a stunning grey silk dress, which she paired with a vibrant red lipstick and smoky eye make-up.

But one cruel troll took to X, formerly known as Twitter to post: “What is @TVNaga01 wearing?? Looks like she’s come straight to work from a night out at a sleazy single’s nightclub…”

But the quick-witted TV star had the perfect response, replying: “Ssssssh… don’t tell anyone. (btw – it’s called a dress).”

BBC Breakfast is on BBC One daily from 6am.
