NCIS is currently undergoing some big changes with its cast which started off with the departure of veteran agent Leroy Gibbs (played by Mark Harmon). There has also been talk of Agent Nick Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) making his exit in season 20, although this has just been theorised by fans for now due to the actor’s upcoming busy work schedule. With the latest episode, viewers started to grow concerned about another beloved character.

Is Director Vance leaving NCIS?

NCIS season 20 continued on Monday, October 17, on CBS with episode five, Guardian.

The main plot for this instalment was focused on Director Leon Vance (Rocky Carroll) who was the victim of a home invasion.

There were concerns from fans at this point that this could be the beginning of the end for the director as Agent Alden Parker (Gary Cole) and the team began investigating.

This wasn’t the first time that Vance’s life was in danger as he has had a brush with death on a couple of other occasions.

Back in season five, Vance was subject to torture and in series 10, his wife Jackie Vance (Paula Newsome) was shot dead in their home during a dinner party.

Given how long Vance has been part of NCIS as well, there could have been a chance that this was intended as his exit storyline.

Thankfully, the episode ended with Vance still alive and in charge of NCIS as the team did everything they could to ensure his protection.

And it seems as if actor Rocky Carroll won’t be leaving the drama anytime soon.

There has been no word from either Carroll or CBS hinting at him leaving NCIS.

Usually, news of actors leaving the drama is announced before their last episode airs and since everyone has remained quiet, there should be plenty more from Vance to come.

He was first introduced in NCIS in season five as a recurring cast member before being promoted to the main cast in the sixth outing.

Carroll was already familiar with one of his co-stars as he worked with them on another project years before.

Carroll and Harmon had previously starred in the CBS medical drama Chicago Hope together.

Harmon was orthopaedic surgeon Jack McNeil while Carroll was behind straight-laced ER doctor Keith Wilkes.

They joined in season three and stayed in Chicago Hope for the remainder of the series.

Carroll had also been veteran CIA agent Carl Reese in CBS’ spy thriller The Agency for two years.

NCIS will return for its next episode on Monday, October 24, with all of the main actors back for more.

So far, an official synopsis hasn’t been released for episode six but it is called The Good Fighter.

Fans are going to have to tune in next week if they want to find out what the team gets up to next.

NCIS season 20 continues every Monday on CBS in the USA. A UK release date hasn’t been announced.
