Ofcom have confirmed they will not pursue over 7,000 complaints about series eight of Love Island.

The hit ITV dating show came to an epic final on August 1, with villa couple Davide and Ekin-Su crowned champs.

However, this year's explosive series sparked thousands of complaints from angry viewers during its eight weeks of drama.

Fans of the show fumed at alleged bullying among contestants, misogynistic behaviour, emotional abuse, possessive behaviour and more.

But the broadcast media regulator has decided it won't investigate the complaints further as it argued negative behaviour was not shown in a positive light on the show.

An Ofcom spokesperson said: "We carefully assessed complaints about this series on a range of issues including alleged misogynistic and bullying behaviour.

"We recognise that emotionally-charged or confrontational scenes can upset some viewers. But, in our view, negative behaviour in the villa was not shown in a positive light. Viewers saw other islanders condemning the behaviour and offering advice and support, as well as scenes where apologies were made.

"We also took into account that the format of this reality show is well-established and viewers would expect to see the highs and lows as couples’ relationships are tested.”

Back in July, Love Island was slapped with nearly 2,000 Ofcom complaints following Tasha's feuds with the boys on the show.

The bullying claims started on July 18 following a game of Suck and Blow which saw the lads throwing swipes at Tasha, prompting 351 Ofcom complaints.

The kicker came on July 19 following the Snog, Marry, Pie challenge as they hit a whopping 1,509 complaints.

A spokesperson for Ofcom had said: "On July 19 the majority of complaints were about alleged misogynistic behaviour from the male islanders towards the female islanders, including in the aftermath of the Snog, Marry, Pie challenge.

"On July 18 the majority of complaints were about alleged misogynistic and bullying behaviour of contestants."

The challenge saw Luca Bish and Dami Hope pie Tasha and air their brutally honest opinions on the islander, prompting fans to accuse them of bullying.
