Outlanders Rob Camerons link to Jamie Frasers Aunt Jocasta explained

Chris Fulton joins Outlander

Warning: The following article contains spoilers for Outlander season 7 and beyond.

There have been several new arrivals in the latest season of Outlander and one of them is plant worker Rob Cameron (played by Chris Fulton).

Fans originally saw him appear as one of Brianna MacKenzie’s (Sophie Skelton) sexist co-workers, who is unhappy to be taking orders from a woman, with him even playing a cruel prank on her which led to her being trapped inside a tunnel.

He later made an appearance at the local primary school when Roger MacKenzie (Richard Rankin) was giving a lesson on Gaelic too. This is after Rob realises that striking up a friendship with Roger could prove useful.

There was also a rather tense moment when Rob handed Roger back his notebook with details on time travel and it didn’t exactly feel all that friendly between the two men.

Those who have already read Diana Gabaldon’s novels, that the show is based on, will be aware of how Rob causes trouble for many beloved characters over the course of the seventh and eighth books. But viewers will need to tune in to see if the show faithfully follows these storylines.

Many viewers may also be curious as to whether there is a link between Rob and the Frasers, given his surname.

Are Rob Cameron and Jamie Fraser’s aunt Jocasta Cameron related?

Fans will remember Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan)’s Aunt Jocasta Cameron (Maria Doyle Kennedy), who lives at River Run in the New World.

She was actually one of the first characters that Jamie and Claire (Caitríona Balfe) visited when they first arrived in America.

She is Jamie’s maternal aunt, with Ellen Fraser (Anita Hegh) being her sister and Dougal MacKenzie (Graham McTavish) and Colum MacKenzie (Gary Lewis) her brothers.

She was first married to John Cameron and would later marry his cousin, Hugh Cameron, following John’s death. After Hugh died, her third husband was Hector mor Cameron (Christopher Bowen), with whom she moved to America with.

Hector ultimately died a year before Jamie and Claire arrived in America and she went on to wed her fourth and final husband Duncan Innes (Alastair Findlay).

But now that the Cameron surname has popped up again in the form of Rob Cameron, many viewers have wondered if the two could be related in some way.

Even though they share a last name, the two characters don’t appear to be related through blood or marriage.

There could be the possibility that they are somehow related if there was inter-marriage between Rob’s ancestors and Jocasta’s family from clan Cameron 200 years prior. But as of now, there is no current link between the two characters.

That doesn’t mean that there couldn’t be one in the future though.

Outlander season seven continues Fridays on Starz in the USA and on Lionsgate+ in the UK.
