Quentin Tarantino Denies Stealing Kanye Wests Idea for Django Unchained

The 45-year-old Oscar-winning director shuts down the Yeezy designer’s claim about him stealing his idea when he appeared in the Thursday, October 27 episode of ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’.

AceShowbizQuentin Tarantino has finally responded to Kanye West‘s allegation that he stole his idea for “Django Unchained“. Disagreeing with the rapper-turned-designer’s claim, the director shared his side of the story when appearing on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!“.

When appearing in the Thursday, October 27 episode of the late-night show, host Jimmy Kimmel first told Quentin, “Kanye West said that he came up with the idea for ‘Django Unchained’.” He then asked, “He said that when he was making the ‘Gold Digger’ video with Jamie Foxx, he pitched it to you guys as a video and then you made it – is there any truth to that?”

In response, the 45-year-old told declared, “There’s not truth to the idea that Kanye West came up with the idea of ‘Django’ and then he told that to me, and I go, ‘Hey, wow, that’s a really great idea. Let me take Kanye’s idea and make ‘Django Unchained’ out of it.’ ” He then stressed, “That didn’t happen.”

“I’d had the idea for a while before I ever met Kanye,” the filmmaker detailed. “He did have an idea for a video, and I do think it was for the ‘Gold Digger’ video, that he would be a slave, the whole thing was the slave narrative, where he’s the slave, and he’s singing ‘Gold Digger’. And it was very funny. It was a really, really funny idea.”

“It was meant to be ironic, it’s like a huge musical. I mean, like, no expenses spared, all right? With him in this, like, slave rag outfit doing everything,” the Oscar-winning continued. “Then that was also part of the pushback on it. But, I wish he had done it. It sounded really cool. Anyway, that’s what he’s referring to.”

Kanye brought up his claim when appearing on “Piers Morgan Uncensored” around one week prior. He said, “Tarantino can write a movie about slavery where – actually him and [Jamie Foxx] they got the idea from me because the idea for Django I pitched to Jamie Foxx and Quentin Tarantino as the video for ‘Gold Digger’… And then Tarantino turned it into a film.”

“But in that film, he put – he created the context where Leonardo DiCaprio‘s allowed to use [racial slurs] multiple times within that context,” the ex-husband of Kim Kardashian further noted. “So Hollywood’s job is to frame things and they allow what content is accepted and what’s not.”

Ye’s music video for his 2005 hit “Gold Digger”, however, did not resemble the plot of “Django: Unchained”. Instead, the visuals showed various pin-up girls posing for fictitious magazine covers. The video itself has been viewed or more than 316 million on YouTube.
